    2014 Carolinas Balloon Association Safety Seminar and LTA Pilot Ground School
     
    You are invited to attend the 24th annual Carolinas Balloon Association Safety Seminar and LTA Pilot Ground School to be held in Statesville, NC. The dates for this event are February 22nd - February 23rd, 2014.
     
    In accordance with the BFA’s Continuing Education Safety Seminar Guidelines, the committee is presenting a one day agenda presented by a professional group of expert and knowledgeable speakers.
    Presenters will include
     
    Sam Parks on ‘Accident Investigation and Analysis’,
    Bert Padelt discussing ‘Repair and Maintenance’,
    Roger Clark will give us insights on ‘Weather' and 'FAR's,
    Randy Lee will do a presentation on ‘Aeronautical Decision Making’,
    Buddy Carter will present a session on ‘Ground and Crew Safety’.
     
    Additional segments will be announced shortly. Please check the CBA website, http://www.carolinasballoonassociation.com We will also be featuring Roger Clark's LTA Pilot Ground School covering both private and commercial ground school topics. Test books, plotters, sectionals, weather books and a CD of FAA documents will be provided to accompany the class. The ground schoool cost is $150.00 The Safety Seminar Committee is pleased to announce that Mitchell Community College in Statesville, NC has graciously provided their facilities to host the safety seminar and ground school. Hotel accomodations for the seminar and ground school attendees will be provided by the Comfort Suites in Statesville, NC. The hotel is located within a short 10 minute drive to the college. Attendees will receive a reduced room rate of $75. You can make your reservation by calling (704) 873-2044. Please indicate that you are attending the balloon seminar and ground school to receive this special rate. Please book your rooms by February 14th, 2014. We look forward to your participation and attendance at the 2014 CBA Safety Seminar and Ground School. Please remember to extend this invitation to your students and crew as well. Cost for the safety seminar for pilots will be $40.00 and crew members will be $20.00. If you are attending the LTA Pilot Ground School the safety seminar fees will be waived.     If you are a crew member, this is a good place to increase your understanding of what’s going on. If you aspire to become a pilot, this is the first step to passing the FAA knowledge exam and earning your pilot certificate. If you are already a pilot, this is a good refresher. If you are working on your Commercial certificate, this is where you can brush up on what you will be teaching your students. Sure you can study on your own, but the classroom setting makes for interesting discussion and questions are asked that you might not think of on your own.
