Hot Air App Tutorial
richard ret and one other reacted to hotairballoonist for a file
Version 2.5.3
Over the years Shawn Gano has been working on this application for ballooning. His efforts have created a fantastic app that every pilot should have and use. Our most sincere thanks go out to him for the HUGE amount of time invested in creating this wonderful application. This application has become so big that many do not know how to use it or may be overwhelmed by its capabilities. HotAirBalloonist.com has created PDF as a users manual for this application. This presentation on the use and features of the Hot Air app covers all aspects of the application and MORE! If you have questions please send them to Info@HotAirBalloonist.com. If you need KML / KMZ files created for your flying area or your balloon event contact us at Events@HotAirBalloonist.com. If you wish to have changes made or suggestions for improvements on the Hot Air app contact Shawn Gano at shawn@gano.name Visit his website at https://hotairapp.com/ Enjoy the Presentation and Become a Member of HotAirBalloonist.com From Shawn G. Hi Jeff -- all I can say is wow! That is the documentation I always wished I had the time to create (but whenever I have time I end up adding new features or fixing bugs instead). That is really fantastic - I really like how you have the information and the screenshots coupled together that really makes it easy to read and understand. I am humbled by all the great pilots using the app and look forward to adding more features in the future. You just made my day Jeff -- thanks a lot for sharing this with me and the community! - Shawn HAB MEMBERS! This presentation is FREE for download for our members. The Bluff City Balloon Jamboree
jacato reacted to hotairballoonist for an event
untilThe Bluff City Balloon Jamboree is coming to the Mid-South on Father’s Day Weekend, June 18-21, 2021. The three-day balloon festival will feature 30 hot air balloons as well as carnival rides suited for all ages, a mid-way, a Kidz Zone , a main stage with live entertainment, an art marketplace, VIP experience, informational booths, and food galore. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of watching 30 balloons launch in a mass ascension on Saturday and Sunday morning, take flight in balloon tether rides during the afternoon, and to be enchanted by the after dark balloon glow. It is important for the Jamboree to give back to our community. There is no better way for the Jamboree to do this than to offer children with special needs and their families the opportunity to enjoy the festival at no charge. On Friday, June 19, the festival field will be closed to the public and the Jamboree will host a private event for these children. Oftentimes children with special needs are denied the pleasure of taking a tether ride due to the difficulty of climbing over the balloon’s basket walls. Bluff City Balloons’ basket is equipped with a door and a chair designed specifically to meet the needs of passengers who are unable to walk or stand. An Oklahoma balloonist owns a basket that is also equipped with the special needs chair has agreed to participate in the Jamboree, thus doubling the number of children that can be accommodated. There will be additional balloons to provide rides for children with more mobility. This is your invitation to participate in this three-day festival. Host hotel will be the Hyatt Place in Germantown TN. This hotel offers room service also. There is $200 show up money. Each pilot will be provided a room for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. I am looking for 8 balloons to provide tethers. You will be paid for the Friday Night “ Special night for special kidz” Each pilot will be provided one crew room for $50 per night. Additional rooms will be available at the Jamboree rate. Friday and Saturday glows pay $200 each, Sunday glow pays $350. Candle sticks if required pay $125. Competition flights will take place Saturday and Sunday mornings with cash prizes for the top four places. In addition, there will be a special private pilots-only contest. A pilot bag will be given to each pilot. Propane: Come full and leave full. We ask that pilots have at least 100 hours PIC and are current before flying before the event. The application fee is $100. Applications will be taken in the order received. Your fee will be returned if not accepted. Please submit your application no later than April 1st. Please make checks payable to and mail application to: Bluff city balloons 8899 Walnut Ridge Loop Cordova, Tn. 38018 The website is thebluffcityballoonjamboree.com1 point -

Enough is enough, Damn it!
hotairballoonist reacted to hotairballoonist for a blog entry
Are we nuts? Honestly! Why would you fly a passenger for someone else for anything less than what you would normally charge? You work hard for every penny you get. Why should anyone else earn money for your efforts? Sky Ride, Thrilliant, Bilateral, Spot Reservations Gadzuk, Any of these names ring a bell? There are many operators (like me) who have lost thousands of dollars, in fact I would easily believe ten's of thousands on these guys. Just don't do it. Honestly. When they call me I am full. No room Sorry, The only way they can stay in business is if someone will fly their people. Don't!!!!!! Fly your people and the prospective passengers will have only one choice. Fly with the people who own and operate the balloon. Recently on HotAirBalloonist.com we have started to offer Balloon Ride Gift Certificates. We do this because we are selling them at a rate where we can pay the operator who takes the passenger their FULL RATE. That is how we believe it should be done. Yes there is a market for Gift Certificates where the passenger does not know where he or she wants to fly. Yes we need a national ticket seller of some kind. Shouldn't it be one of US? Should it not be a balloon pilot of some kind? If you are reading this and want to help please become a member of this site. Every dollar helps us take out the middle man and promote the real balloonist's Thanks1 point -
